  1. That’s great, I will check out the online support. Thanks for your help.
  2. Thanks again for your replies. Bev53 - I’m on a waiting list for one of the NHS specialist OCD clinics, so I will wait to see them next. Don’t think it’s worth trying my local IAPT again. This is actually the second time I’ve tried them. The first therapist I saw suggested I watch the OCD Cleaners programme as homework! Snowbear - many thanks for the info, that is very useful to have. I will quote that in my next session. Felix4 - that sounds horrendous. Really glad to hear you got some great treatment in the end and are much better now. I’m also waiting to be seen by an OCD specialist clinic. The one in Oxford that is headed up by Paul Salkovskis. I feel they will be much better placed to help me. For info, I have severe contamination OCD and have had it for five years now. Just wondered if anyone knows of any good support groups. I prefer in the flesh, but would do online if that’s all that is available. In based in South London. Thanks, Stu
  3. Thanks for your replies. I always thought it was incorrect, but wanted to get some other views. Unfortunately, the therapist hasn’t got much clue about OCD either. He admits I know more than he does about it. I think I will end this and wait until I can see a specialist. I’m on the waiting list for the Oxford OCD clinic as well.
  4. Hi, I’m currently half way through a 12 week course of CBT with my local NHS IAPT service. All my therapist talks about is ERP, nothing else. I said I really want to work on the cognitive side of things first (thoughts, ways of thinking, meanings, theory a/b, etc). He said that isn’t how it’s done in the NHS and we have to go straight in to ERP. Just doesn’t feel like therapy to me. I’m not getting anything more than a book can give me. Effectively I’m just being told, this is ERP, go and try it. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on whether this sounds right or not. It’s not what I expected from CBT and if all it is gong to be is someone relaying an ERP booklet to me, then it definitely won’t help me. Thanks, Stu.
