  1. Thanks for your reply. Yes i do try and say lets try a breathing technique or any skills that your therapist has shown you, but like you say he gets more angry at me and screams even harder. I get that they are so young and its hard to take control of themselves, but one thing i cant do is leave him alone at that present moment in his attacks, its just not possible. As with the therapist, he ia so far engagaing. The start of it was actually good, but now his started to do ERP the anxiety levels are high. But i am not giving up, as i dont beleive in cahms at all at this moment. After trying to tell them his getting worse, they do nothing to help. My only hopes are this private therapist. My heart goes out to you all as well. This aint an easy journey for anyone. TAKE CARE!
  2. I have recently started my son who is 13 with ocd and suffers with germ contamination to therapy. I believe the therapist does online and inperson. If u like details please dont hesitate. Or you can check psychology today, you may find someone by putting you closeby areas in the options After trying 3 different therapists, i hoping this is the one as it it involves teaching them the knowledge and then slowly introducing them to exposure and response. Exposure is due to start in 2 weeks i can not say how good it will be but i have hopes this time.
  3. Totally understand you. My son is 13 years of agr and also has also been sufferring for a year. He was referred to CAHMS but waiting for them is like waiting a century. I have now found a private therapist, and i am hoping he will be able to help himself with this. Everyday is a struggling, and i can even walk in the home as he thinks everything is contaminating me as well. However, my son experiences severe panic attacks and i am struggling to help him with these. Just wanted to know if anyine expriences things like this or any tips that may help. He will not not listen to me in the panic attack and he will.scream until his lungs are coming out. Take care everyone
  4. i feel like i am in the same routine as my 13 year old son at the moment. It has been 1 year and we are still waiting for cahms. He is due to start private therapy hopefully this week. Would you have any useful tools to cope, my family is falling apart.
  5. Honestly doing our very best to fine support, but not really getting much. The school aint really doing much either. But if you come up with amy new ideas to cope, please do let is know and i will do the very same. Take care.
  6. I really truly understand where you are coming from. It is also a roller coaster for me with my 13 year old son with ocd germ contamination. He is also on the cahms waiting list and i have been told there is a 10 minth waiting list. After trying exposure and response prevention on my own, we manage for a few days and then it breaks down again. The amount of stress everyone goes thorough is very stressful and has affected the whole family. We are not even allowed to touch things or each other and he has even got me in his rituals. If i dont do these, he ends up in a severe panic attack. His panic attacks are very severe and one of the causes are school. Everyday is hard to getting him go. But he has these panic attacks that i am not able to cope with on my own. I am at my wits end trying to find a private therpist for the last few weeks, its very hard to know which one might be successful. Most do not do exposure and response prevention and do cbt alone. But its nice to know i am not the only parent out there, i do feel where you are coming from espcially that i feel lonely and helpless as i dont have anyone to support me.
