  1. Hi OK I just wondered why has your dosage been put up? Was it not quite enough?
  2. When I first took Citalopram my anxiety and depression got worse. How long were you on 10mg for before the doctor told you to take a higher dosage?
  3. I have heard it is very helpful for anxiety. In a way not being assertive is a form of anxiety. You are not assertive because you are afraid of what will happen
  4. Hi Ace. Rejection is hard for anyone. But with depression anxiety, low self esteem it will be harder. I'm not to sure what specific advice I can give you at the moment but I'll try. With jobs sometimes it comes down to experience, another person may be more experienced and so they may be more suitable. It doesn't mean you are not good just that they have more experience, you may well have been better than them at that stage of their career. Also remember that depression anxiety will affect your performance. It doesn't mean you are not a competent individual just that you are under tremendous stress which is bound to affect you. I'm not to sure what advice to give you on being rejected by females. All I would say is that it is a numbers game, not everyone is suited for everyone, infact most people probably aren't suited for each other. I think it's just a case of trying to meet the right girl. Which your trying to do as you mentioned you use dating sites. Hope this helps :original:
  5. Hello Ace I use dating websites, unfortunately they can be pretty brutal. To be honest it;s a numbers game it doesn't mean anything if you don't get a reply. One of my friends is one of the best looking guys I have seen and he has been on sites and not got many replies. So it doesn't mean anything if you don't get many replies. I had a girl once block me after I just sent her a message. I didn't take it personally. Some guys send messages again and again if a girl doesn't reply so some girls will block you first time. That's all it probably was I doubt you did anything wrong. I would advice that you make you profile as interesting as possible, over exaggerate a bit but don't flat out lie, most people do that. I know it sounds a bit dishonest but most guys will do it so if you don't it will make it hard. So try to make yourself sound as interesting as possible. Also humour goes along way. I got more replies when I made my profile funnier. And if you send a message make sure you make it a personal message ask them about something that's in their profile. If they have a short profile ask them what kind of music, TV, Films ect they like. Hope this helps :original:
  6. Sorry this isn't actually specifically about OCD but I wasn't to sure where else to put it. Anyway I have heard about the book feel the fear and do it anyway which I'm pretty certain some people on here have read. I'm looking for a book to help me with being more assertive. Would that book be helpful?
  7. Hello Tigershark. I don't know whether this is helpful or not if it isn't then someone please correct me. Is there any other career path you may feel may suit you? I mean teaching is quite a stressful job and it may not suit someone who is prone to anxiety. Obviously it would be hard because you have trained for it but is there anything else you think you may like? How old are you could you retrain?
  8. So did this happen partly because of your mental health issues or did it not really affect it? Is it a first time offence? It would seem a bit harsh to do it if it is the first time it happens. Obviously if you had done it a few times I could understand but for a first time it seems harsh.
  9. One thing I forgot to say. Diazepam is addictive so go careful if you use it.
  10. Hello My doctor prescribed Diazepam to help with the early anxiety when I started taking meds. It will go after a bit don't worry. Although it can stay in your system for up 24 hours maybe longer depending on the dose so you have to go careful with driving etc because it can make you drowsy. Speak to your doctor about it.
  11. Just to show what this programme has done someone on another forum said they wished they had a friend with ocd after watching the programme
  12. Could you maybe talk to some of the people who still are your friend and see if they can talk to them to patch things over?
  13. Hi I think it is starting to settle in now. The reason my Dad was upset was because he had a depressive bout before. He took an anti-depressant and he didn't think it helped. He thinks things can be resolved in your head and you will be OK. I don't think he really understands clinical depression which is what I have. I still work hard to get better and I try to sort out the issues in my head but I still need something to help me. I'm kind of like an athlete with Asthma. I can get as fit as possible but I still need an inhaler.
  14. Hi My Citalopram is for depression and anxiety. I'm seeing a counsellor at the moment. My family don't know I take it. The reason is that my Dad got really upset when he found out I was gonna take it. I changed my mind for a bit and decided not to take it and I told him that. When I decided to take it again I decided not to tell him. I might tell my Mum I'm not to sure yet.
  15. Hello Tricia I've just watched the documentary. Am I right that you have lost friends because you don't see your grandchildren but you have a parrot? As you said ocd is very selective. It's not a rational disorder and it doesn't make any sense. Sometimes you are less afraid of things that may make you more contaminated but that's just OCD. Unfortunately people without OCD may find that hard to understand. Perhaps try to get someone to explain to your friends how it works if they won't listen to you. Hope this helps
  16. Hello I've been taking Citalopram now since the 19th October. I have gone through a really depressive spell lately. Hopefully it is just the medicine settling and it will stop soon. Just wanted to talk to someone really.
  17. Hi Tricia. I have not watched the documentary yet. Why is it your friends are not talking to you?
  18. I can't believe it has been given a second series. Perhaps ocd UK and OCD action could do a joint campaign. Although I am against to much political correctness I think this is taking it to far. I've signed it. I've put "This show is trivializing a very serous disorder. Although I am against to much political correctness I feel this show is very insensitive and could have a serious impact on some people's perception of OCD"
  19. Hi. Do you know this doctor well? Is he a good doctor? I find it quite unlikely there is no way you could have CBT. Where in Wales do you live there is definitely CBT available in Bristol.
  20. I do understand your frustration but I do think calling trainees morons is a bit out of order.
  21. Hi Kirsty You can always come on here for support. I do have to say I am very disappointed in your mum. I mean if you were in hospital for a year shorly she must know how serious your mental health problems are! Have you tried ringing mind the mental health support group? Also living in London there must be support group near you perhaps you can try some of those. Hope this helps
  22. Personally I'm not offended by it but I think comments like these can create stigma. However I don't think they create that much stigma I think comments like this more reflect people attitudes than create them. Is it that she doesn't have ocd but she is saying she is obsessively dedicated? Is that what she meant?
  23. Hello OCD will certainly drain your energy like anything that is very stressful. But I think you may be sexually frustrated and when you are sexually frustrated you can create a mental block because it is hard to except
  24. Counselling is more about talking about your problems perhaps trying to find out what caused your low self-esteem. It can also help to talk about these things.
