whitebeam
If a person suffers with depression alongside the ocd and has cbt which improves the ocd does the depression also improve ? Meg Interesting question - and to be honest I don't know - but I don't think the depression would necessarily improve. I guess it depends on whether the OCD is causing the depression or if the depression has another (or no obvious) cause. Might be best talked over with your GP or whoever's providing the CBT. whitebeam Link to comment
Stephen
Hi Meg My completely non-expert opinion would be: The depression might improve, particularly if the depression was caused by (or maybe lead to) the OCD. If the depression was not directly linked to the OCD I don't know. I know very little about CBT. The above is only based on my own logic (?!). All the best Stephen Link to comment
Guest Jimbo
Hi Meg, I find I only get my old obsessions back when I'm depressed. By keeping on top of my depression the OCD type stuff recedes. So Stephen is right in my case. I find anti-depressants a god send. I'm waiting on some more therapy to see if I can find a way of stopping the Anti-Ds without slipping back to my former self. Jimbo. Link to comment
