Hello All

You may remember my last posting before Christmas about a documentary series we are producing about OCD. For all those members I’ve spoken to, thanks for getting in contact, and I hope you’ve had a great Christmas and New Year – I’ll be in touch this week to catch up with you all.

To any new members of this forum or those still thinking of getting in touch I just thought I’d update you about the programme we are producing.

Since our last posting we have had the fortune of enlisting Professor Paul Salkovskis as our lead consultant in the treatment programme. Paul is at the forefront of OCD treatment in the UK and is the Clinical Director of the OCD clinic at the Maudsley. He has put together an innovative therapy programme that will be carried out over 3 weeks which he believes will be of great benefit to extreme sufferers seeking treatment.

We are keen to talk to as many people as possible that suffer from OCD to gain a greater understanding of the condition, as well as finding potential contributors for the treatment programme.

If this is something that interests you, please get in touch for a confidential chat on 0207 749 3141 (Karen) or 0207 749 3160 (Vicky).

We look forward to speaking to you soon!

Karen

I have spoke to Karen on a number of occasions and I can assure you that she genuinely seems to care. So for those of you interested I would certainly urge you to give her a call and have a chat, by doing so you are under no obligation at all.

Hi Beth,

Good for you for even talking to Karen, takes lot of courage so well done you. :( As for assurance, aaah wish I could say it will all work out well for you should you take part but sadly I can't, I am sure it will be fine but I cant assure you.

What I will say to you and anyone else that takes part if any of you need myself or someone else from OCD-UK to be there for you to talk to or vent then we will.

From karem:

Are you 19 –24 years old and suffer from OCD?

As some of you may know, we are currently working on a Channel 4 documentary following the work of leading OCD specialist Professor Paul Salkovskis (Clinical Director of the OCD clinic at the Maudsley) and his team of therapists during a 2 week residential therapy programme that could substantially benefit the lives of extreme sufferers of the condition.

We are in the process of talking to people about the condition, and particularly keen to talk to those of you who are between 19 – 24 years of age, as we have received fewer calls from this age group so far. I appreciate the sensitive nature of this subject matter, but all conversations will be in complete confidence.

For more information, or to take part, call Karen on 0207 749 3141 or Vicky on 0207 749 3160.

I think I might like to be involved (bit unsure) but I read the proposal and I wouldn't say my OCD is extreme so I'm not sure if I'd be right for it?

Hi Northern Star

Just wanted to reassure you that we're just chatting to everyone who suffers about OCD about their experiences. I suppose the line 'extreme' can be a bit off putting, how do you measure feelings? I think if you feel you've been affected by OCD, we'd be happy to talk - you're not committed to anything if you call me, so please get in touch.

All the best

Karen

I've still been considering getting in touch, but have been busy lately and like Northern Star, I worry that mine isn't extreme enough - although this is probably down to my condition mainly consisting of intrusive thoughts, doubts, etc. which is more debilitating than my compulsions...
