Stephen
Hi all I have just followed a link to this article I wasn't aware of before. If describes how researchers from the University of Toronto focussed on a gene that works with a serotonin receptor. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/2234315.stm Any thoughts? Northern Star
Hi Stephen That article is quite interesting...no-one in my family except me has OCD but I do have a close family member who suffers/suffered from depression, which I think is also linked to serotonin levels in the brain. Guest lilyelspeth
My mum suffered from depression but also has showed signs of having a minor case of OCD. My dad is bipolar, so I definitely believe the idea about genetics. Link to comment
whitebeam
I'm pretty sure my nan had contamination OCD - although it was a long time ago and therefore not diagnosed. My Mum has always been anxious but not to the point of OCD. Two of the people that go to my Support Group have immediate family members who have OCD - interestingly in one case a different 'brand'.
