Guest ktams
I have suffered with OCD for nearly 20 years now and I've been on various medications for over 13 years. I am at the point where I am stable on 60mg fluoxetine. However, I'm really not happy with the side effects I seem to still be getting after all these years. I was wondering if there were any alternative medications? Karen. Link to comment
Guest penny0305
Hi. I have always had trouble tolerating ssris and have never been able to take them for more than a couple of weeks. My psychiatrist recently prescribed risperidone a low dose anti psychotic as a trial. Within a couple of weeks my OCd compulsions lessened. The thoughts are there but I find it easier to pay less attention to them. Felt grotty the first week on them but very few side effects now Link to comment
Caramoole
I should point out that recent research has shown that treatment of OCD has not benefited by the use of anti-psychotics and often there can be significant side effects with them. I'm just wondering Karen what you meant by alternative? Do you mean other medications in general or more natural (for want of a better description) treatments? Caramoole Link to comment
