Ashley
Something that some of you may not be aware of is that those on low income may be able to reclaim the cost of travel. So for example if you need expensive train tickets to access one of the specialist OCD treatment clinics in London or Bristol, you may be eligible to reclaim those costs back. In most cases, you are expected to pay for your travel and claim back the costs. The majority of payments are made on the day of your appointment by the cashier. However, if a cashier is not available it is possible to claim in advance of travel or retrospectively, using the HC5 (T) claim travel charges form (download below). Advanced payments may also be issued if you are attending a hospital or NHS clinic that does not have a cashiers office. Please contact the hospital to check. For more information please visit this webpage: http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcosts/Pages/Travelcosts.aspx This is the claim form which can be downloaded: http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcosts/Documents/2014/HC5(T)%20June%202014.pdf If anybody would like any help or further information in reclaiming please do contact beth@ocduk.org or myself who will help you or check on cashier offices for you (please note beth works Mon-Wed). Guest
Thanks for the information. Can I attach a travel planner of miles as proof of travel length? Link to comment
Ashley
For claiming the mileage back if driving? Possibly, I assume they would use an agreed website, like AA Route Planner to get the 'official' mileage they are prepared to refund. Are you attending a specific national clinic? I am happy to check with them or you can give them a call yourself. If local service, just check in advance with them I guess. Link to comment
