carlleo123
Hi not sure if this is the right place to post this but was wondering if anyone knew of any therapists who specialise in ocd in the hull area. I have accessed nhs therapy in the past but unfortunately I don't seem to get anywhere as they are usually good people but don't seem to have a real understanding of my problems thank you Link to comment

ashipinharbor
Also, there's an ocd advocate who can help you find someone! She lives in the US, but she helps people all over the world Her name's Chrissie Hodges, and she's also an ocd youtuber. Edited September 27, 2017 by ashipinharbor Typo Link to comment
carlleo123
I'll have a look at that thank you ashipinharbor. I think I'll have to continue with my self-help though as looking at the cost of private therapy it's a little out of my means at the moment. Link to comment
Ashley
I don't know of any specialists in the Hull area, that's not to say there are not good CBT therapists skilled to help someone with OCD. The BABCP is the place to go to find local CBT therapists, but huge caveat to that is that just because they are BABCP accredited does not make them experts in treating OCD (despite what they may say). You would need to ask them some questions to try and gauge their understanding of OCD from their responses. There are 4 or 5 OCD experts that work privately I can recommend but they're not local they are all in the London/Kent region (but these are OCD experts, so is worth travelling). Dr Lomax I work with in Newcastle did give me the name of a private therapist she recommends in the north east, so a tad closer. I can dig that out if you need me to. In my opinion the best OCD experts in the UK do actually work on the NHS only, Claire being one (Newcastle) the rest are at national treatment clinics in London and Bath. In theory you can be referred to London or Bath for treatment at those clinics, should you be prepared to travel for therapy. Link to comment
carlleo123
thank you for the info Ashley. If you wanted to see a nhs therapist that is in another area how would you get referred for that? Link to comment
