Urge to confess , what's that all about

I seem to have developed an urge to confess to past misdeeds ........what's all that about and more importantly what can I do about it ?

I have been there done that bought the t-shirt with confessing...... and the best advice I can give (as glib as this sounds) is DO NOT do it no matter how compelling.  Once you start confessing it is incredibly difficult to stop and it can cause real-life issues as well as OCD issues.  I know it's very difficult to resist compulsions but I urge you to find something else to do, a distraction, anything, just don't confess. If you ride out the anxiety eventually it will fade and the desire to confess will fade with it.
