Pocd how do you know if it's OCD or your a real threat

Recommended Posts

Been thinking about this for a while now well maybe it's got to do with being in hospital.Things got really bad for near a year then I was in a mental hospital. It was terrible in the hospital I was treated like a threat and called one.Im still not right in the head.

There's a saying that goes "if it feels like it might be ocd, then it probably is". This is a good time of thumb. If you are even asking that question then it is probably ocd. You can't be absolutely certain of that  - none of us can be - all we can go by is probability. If you were a genuine that to children you would not even be considering whether it's ocd or not.

How are you getting on getting therapy? One reason why you have not gone for therapy in the past is the difficulties in travelling to the appointment. What’s the worst that can happen?

You can ask your CMHT for an escort or take a cab there and back. I think I remember that you had some telephone support in the past. Have you started this again?

I just don't feel ready for CBT I don't feel safe I did call a service at maudsley and they can visit me at home.but still I have to go outside practising it I hear people outside everyday calling me names to do with pocd.when ever I go out I need to be on a bike I've been using the bike for over 15 years.

I haven't had telephone support

I think that is incredibly good news that the Maudsley therapists will visit you. You negotiate with the therapist the nature of the therapy and the challenges involved. This might include going outside with a therapist. Given the question naming this thread, how else will you answer the question?

We cannot answer it for you.

I think that you need to summon the courage and undergo therapy.

Ok and I'm just REALLY scared I couldn't handle prison before the relapse things were good I didn't feel a risk I understood it was ocd but I was drinking too much alcohol.I don't drink now but I'm full of nerves I feel watched and followed i hear people outside talking about me everyday and I have two other OCD themes now.

Depression has come over me too

You have three current threads on the go. I think it would be easier to have one consolidated thread as there is a lot of overlap. You mention in another thread that the Maudsley service, pickup, will visit you. As I said in this thread, you should accept therapy in order to discuss things with a therapist. You might have more one than one diagnosis. Why don’t you ring pickup today and see what they say?

I think that you should read what you wrote in another name from December 2017 to January 2018. How your predictions did not come true. The police did not arrest you. The themes you have now seem very similar to me.

If you look at the pickup entry at the Maudsley you will see the range of issues that they deal with. It has been a persistent theme of yours that you are not ready for therapy. Personally I think prescribed drug therapy and talk therapy will help. There is evidence for this.

So register for the therapy now.

i wouldnt be able to find my posts under the other name i deleted the account and i wouldnt know how to find them it would make me worse i think.I looked up pickup it says a few things no mention of pocd or the other themes i have but there is psychosis, delusions and hallucinations.Im really hearing people though from outside the building.

I was going through a crisis in them posts you read and I'm not right in the head now.im waiting for an assessment from the cmht they could put me in hospital.

You need to have a discussion with your CPN and his/her team about things. If you major concern is going into hospital then being calm and being willing to try options rather than going into hospital will help.
