taurean
Here are some pointers. Listen to therapists and we here, not the OCD. Look for the falsehoods and lies, exaggerations of minimum risk or revulsions that make up the OCD core belief that triggers your theme(s) of OCD. Don't buy the disorder's demands for certainty - accept probability that the issue is OCD instead. Note that your mind seeks out OCD triggers, homes in and hard focuses on them. Break that focus by gently but firmly refocusing away. Challenge intrusions in structured sessions of exposure and response prevention. Cut out responding to intrusions with the carrying out of compulsions. These just give belief to the intrusions, and make things worse. Remember, the best OCD therapist in the world is of no value unless his or her patient believes what they are told in therapy, and carries out all the necessary work to make the required thinking and behavioural changes.
