OCD can marginalise - make us afraid to talk about it, unwilling to socialise, and feel very alone trying to fight a formidable enemy.

But with OCD-UK and its forums we aren't alone.

We can engage with people who understand, care and will do their best to help. Friends where someone will usually be online 24/7.

We need not feel alone.

Nor ought we to feel responsible for the catastrophic thoughts of OCD, whatever they try to allege about us.

OCD lies and exaggerates, and we are not responsible for intrusions attributable to it.

There are lovely, kind, generous people on this forum, it always amazes me how much time, effort and wisdom some people put into their replies - thanks everyone!

I agree. And when we help others, we are also helping ourselves: we feel better about ourselves, and there is joy in passing on what may help someone else.

For me tremendous pleasure comes when people take on board what we say, put it into practice and report good progress.

For those that haven't reached that stage, it helps and encourages them to know it is possible to progress in recovery.

Walked past a MIND cafe today.

What a wonderful idea.

Anyone needing mental help can call in, have some refreshment and talk.

Run by an NMHT (Northampton Mental Health Trust) health care professional and a MIND peer support worker.

You can find details by googling MIND cafe Northampton.
