O Neg
I have intrusive thoughts regarding spitting into other people's food and drink. Why is it that whenever someone is near with food and\or drink my saliva glands go into overdrive? Its like the OCD is taking the p%s* I do try not to ask if the food and drink are ok. Closed for repairs
Its because the OCD is taking the p%s*... It does that.... But it's a variation on the "don't think of the polar bear", thing I bet you try really hard not to think about spitting in people's food. I mean I'm thinking about it now, but it will go away for me, as I go on to think stupid thoughts about something else. Do I want a new phone? What's for tea? Am I too old to get a BMX bike? Yes I am.. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to distract myself, I'm just letting the thoughts come and go, at some point I'll get a "sticky" one and have a mad panic about something. But if I try not to think about, something that needs a good checking, I'll be stuck with it for sure. OCD your own personal bully and liar. Link to comment
O Neg
Thanks Closed, your wisdom is of value. I tend to concentrate on my own food, which I suppose is trying hard not to think about spitting. Link to comment

It's a bit like thinking about a lemon and your mouth will actually water......mind/body connection Link to comment

Normal reaction to food + your particular intrusive worries + typical OCD over-awareness of physical sensations = your situation Link to comment
