Padesco de TOC

Recommended Posts

Good morning, Andreee. I'm sorry, my Spanish is not very good but I would like to help! I will also write in English for clarity and ask Google for help! Do you speak English?

Thank you for your post - I'm sorry you are struggling at the moment. OCD is difficult because it tells you that all of your thoughts are important and have to mean something - but this is not true. Your thoughts are automatic and you cannot control them. But you do not have to pay them any attention. Have you read any books about OCD? Some CBT approaches might help you work through this: some suggest thinking about the upsetting thought so much that it stops bothering you.

Do you have someone you can talk to? A friend or a doctor who specialises in OCD? There is some useful information on the OCD-UK website. I have had some success using 'thought records' for thoughts that upset me. Maybe something similar would help you too? However, you are not alone in your struggle! There are many people here dealing with the same thing!

I hope this is useful and again, I"m sorry for my Spanish! I hope this makes sense!

Gracias

Well my thoughts are horrible and sometimes I have to endure gestures and hobbies that my thoughts produce, a question is normal to feel agitated and wanting to cry?

Thank you

No entiendo.

Can we now allow  Scottish Gaelic, Welsh,  Polish, Punjabi, Urdu and Gujarati the major minority languages in the UK? All higher percentages than Spanish.  Are posts still being moderated?

I have just come across this Angst & do share your concerns re moderation.  Clearly we want to offer support to everyone we possibly can but we are a UK based charity & site.  The solution may be for the O/P to translate comments before posting and subsequently with replies.

Hi Caramoole,

My rudimentary knowledge of Spanish indicates that your translation is more or less accurate. Did you goggle a translation or did it come from your knowledge of Spanish. However, I believe that the author of any post should be able to check machine generated translations. They are not always accurate. In the UK, in the law enforcement and health services there is a provision of interpretation services. Perhaps, through the recruitment of volunteers, an interpretation service could be provided?

Hi Angst

My knowledge of Spanish you could write on the back of a postcard, so yes, it is a Google translation.  I'm afraid (as I'm sure you'll understand), we have no provision of interpretation services and are not in a position to do so.  We have a small volunteer group and limited resources, so It's not something I envisage in the near future!

As a former very active chairperson of a charity I know the huge amount of effort that goes into fund raising. I have experience of fundraising with statutory bodies, Comic Relief, the National Lottery, and numerous smaller charitable funders. Mostly successful bids. The role also made me aware of the importance of carefully thought out policies and their implementation. What are the implications of a multilingual site especially if it grows haphazardly in areas of equal opportunity provision or if messages are poorly or deliberately mistranslated?  Just some thoughts. It needs to a policy decision with explicit criteria to enable rational choice.

Interesting comments.  However, we are a UK based charity and currently we have no provision for a multilingual site.  I don't think this forum is really the place for this discussion but please feel free to contact the charity direct with your comments and/or concerns.

Hello All,

Can I please remind the forum ALL posts must be made in English.  We are unable to provide multi lingual services at this time.

The two main reasons we require posts to be made in English, beyond what Caramoole's already explained.    1. Posts in English are more likely to get higher number of responses. 2. We have to be able to review and moderate all posts.

As a general rule we will have to remove posts I'm afraid.

Thank you for understanding.

Just a quick reminder...if anyone has an issue with someone/something on the forum please always remember you can get in touch with the moderating team and we’ll be happy to take a look at it for you.

Hopefully we’ll be able to resolve it and avoid any thread’s going off course...which is what’s happened here and why I’ve just set a couple of replies as invisible.

Many thanks?
