How do you stop????

Hi everybody, I hope you’re all well, I suffer from contamination OCD, I’m really trying to stop my compulsions, I am really struggling but determined. How do you not do your compulsions when you feel so bad xx

There are three ways.

Stop. This is cold Turkey.

Reduce. Reduce either the frequency or duration or combination thereof of a compulsion and keep doing it at that level until it doesn't bother you, then reduce again, etc., until you no longer do the compulsion.

Delay. Delay doing a compulsion for, say, 15 minutes. Slowly, over time, increase the length of delay until you no longer do the compulsion.
