K02685
Both my wife and I are beyond standard levels of clean - we spend hours cleaning each week due to our fear of contamination that existed long before COVID. This has been exacerbated because of COVID. We have been using 70% IPA and 30% distilled water (purchased reputably not homemade) for cleaning and hand sanitizer during the pandemic. I am concerned about the long term impacts of using lots of this - I think we have been a little excessive with the cleaning with 70% alcohol at times so the smell of IPA has been a little strong at times. We try to ensure good ventilation but at times - we have not been able to- although we have only remained in the same environment while doing the cleaning. Does anyone one this is really bad for you. PolarBear
In a way it doesn't matter if it's bad for you. The issue is, you're both going wsy overboard. Do you see that? Link to comment
K02685
I do, and am doing what I can to manage irrational thoughts about contamination. Link to comment
PolarBear
Two things you can do. Delay. When you get the urge to do a compulsion, try delaying it for a while. Over time you should be able to lengthen the delay time. Reduce. Instead of doing a compulsion for the usual 5 minutes, let's say, try 4 minutes for a week. Then 3. Then 2. These methods are much less anxiety provoking than just stopping. Link to comment
