skans100
My 15 year old daughter says she keeps getting images / impulses related to kissing / touching friends / family members and also she fears she is getting homosexual thoughts. She goes to an all-girls school and her interaction with boys is very minimal. Not sure if that's the reason her mind has thoughts about female friends. And she wants to avoid school due to this problem and is very distressed. Is this a kind of OCD? How can she get out of this? Will she need CBT to come out of these thoughts? This has been going on for past few months and has become worse during lockdown. Link to comment
PolarBear
Yeah, it very well could be OCD. Sexual obsessions are very common, including fears that one's sexual orientation is changing. As a start, I would get her to learn about OCD. A good book will help, like Break Free From OCD. She can always come here and ask questions, too. That's what we're here for. We are all sufferers or ex-sufferers. Lastly, look into CBT for her. Link to comment
Albertina
Yes it can be OCD but as @PolarBear said this thoughts are very common. I think you should read some books and blogs to get a better understanding of what is OCD. You can also see to a therapist and get her diagnosed if she has OCD or not and if turns to be OCD than you can start with CBT/ERP therapy. It is better to start the therapy when she is young so that it doesn't get worse when she gets older. Some blog post that can help to understand OCD better.
