Stringularity
I need advice. My 21 year old daughter has OCD and is constantly washing her hands, arms so that her skin is red and sore. She has a two year old daughter and my wife and I have noticed that she’s washing her hands all the time. We are worried about the effects on our granddaughter. Should we tell our daughter to stop washing her daughters hands all the time? Link to comment
Gemma@OCDUK
Hi Stringularity, I'm sorry to hear that you daughter is struggling with hand washing compulsions at the moment and that it is effecting her daughter too. Is your daughter currently accessing any support to help her tackle the OCD? I think it's unlikely that telling your daughter to stop will lead to her stop but perhaps highlighting that you are concerned about her wellbeing could be a good place to start. The aim is that if your daughter can get well, then this will improve things for your granddaughter. Gemma Link to comment
