Was just wondering how everyone was getting on - it's been pretty quiet recently.

Things are pretty calm at our end - in fact our son went away to Dorset this weekend and came back in one piece - only one phone call with an OCD worry so we are very proud of him!

Hope you are all well and getting on ok was wondering if anyone wanted to chat one night soon.

Hi Pam,

Sorry I havn't been around lately but I given myself a break from the board to collect myself and review my life/ life in general, its funny really because I seem to do this everytime something changes or something negative happenes not sure if this is a good or bad thing? Its been a difficult time so much has changed, so much to deal with, but thats life not always fair not always nice but its all part of the journey

I am glad that thing are running pretty smoothly for you/ son and family,

Take care

Alan

Hi All

Glad you are all well and seem to be enjoying some peace. Things are relatively quiet here, but don't hold your breath! Still I'm enjoying the peace while it lasts. Been doing some painting as therapy but there seems to be more on me than anywhere else!!! :( Take Care

Keep smiling

Ju

Hi, everyone. Good to hear from fletch and ju and good luck to you both and everyone else, of course..

Here exams have been over about a fortnight and daughter has been doing work experience which she's found boring but is dealing with. There have been a lot of parties to keep her head occupied- and she now has to face the future which for us is a move out of this area, new school, losing friends.. not easy for anybody, and for the OCD-anxious a major set of catastrophes in the offing. She has had sessions of uncontrolled wailing that it will all go wrong, we'll hate the new area, she won't make friends, she won't be able to cope with A levels, the new long bus journey to college etc.

Some time back in May I posted that we were trying to sell / buy houses and that we had had a glitch and how should I tell her the bad news if everything fell apart? I had some great advice from you all which wasn't used.... until last week when all our plans collapsed with our buyer unable to exchange. So I had to tell her the bad news after all. The exams were at least finished, so the risk of the news really interfering with her exam work was over. She took it very badly and went into a full anxiety attack with shouting and screaming and crying which lasted about an hour. I felt so sad for her. It was difficult because I was also desperately upset by the whole business and there was no hiding it. Seeing me upset made her worse.

Her instability and dreads about the move had been slightly balanced by the fact that we had found a house which she liked and she could project ahead to something at least vaguely familiar. We are now having to think about renting which is the last thing we wanted. The whole thing is open ended again and it is making her very shaky. We are going to try to find a house to rent soon so at least she can have some idea of how things will be.

And after Patience's post about changing GP's, I don't relish the idea we may then have to change doctors twice after the move if we rent in one place and end up buying elsewhere. Isn't life fun..?

Hope everyone else is having not too bad a time. Here it's abit wet and VERY windy..

Really glad to hear that things are fairly balanced for you Ju :(

Julia - really glad to hear that your daughter has survived the exams and is enjoying so socialising.

Moving home is stressful and I really feel for you all but once you are settled I'm sure things will calm down.

It takes time to adjust to a new place. We have moved countries on several occasions so I can totally empathise with you!

Try to look to the future and work towards the end result - your positive attitude and strength will see you through.

Take care

Hi Tangoblu

That's good news about your son. Only one phone call sounds great! I sometimes used to call my Mum about OCD stuff more than that, and that was since I was an adult!

Hi Fletch

Take as long as you want. It's important to review stuff - otherwise one would keep on plodding on on the same old track, possibly in the wrong direction, wouldn't one?!

Hi Julia

Sorry to hear you're still having moving difficulties. It will all work out OK in the end, but don't forget to post if you or your daughter need to moan!

All the best

Stephen
