bluefish
I am a friend of a person suffering from ocd. They regularly talk to me about their condition, but refrain from speaking about certain topics that they believe they are hiding. However, I know what they are talking about. Is it better for me to let them know that I know, or should I let them live in the bubble? I just want to know what the best course of action would be to help them. If I were to point them out, would it be better to do so in the moment or in private? Any and all responses are appreciated, thank you. Link to comment
snowbear
Definitely in private if you're going to say something. Don't 'out' them in front of other people. And maybe try to find a sensitive way of letting them know that you know? You could ask if there are some subjects they find more difficult to talk about, offer to listen without judgement, and then leave it up to them to decide if they want to share or not.
