Ashley
For people resident in England, in most cases their first access to OCD treatment will come through their local Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service. Because each local IAPT service will have its own service name, it can sometimes be hard to find details about your local service. What we discovered last year was the NHS handed over responsibility for listing of IAPT services to NHS Choices, however many local services failed to correctly update NHS Choices with information about their IAPT services so what happened was when you searched for local services you were offered inappropriate services (i.e. relate marriage guidance or various non-CBT counselling services). So after discussing this with NHS Choices late last year, OCD-UK offered to create an updated list of IAPT services. The result was we created a searchable map of IAPT services across England. You can access this on our website at: http://www.ocduk.org/iapt-database Thank you to some of the forum for their help with checking data in their area. Link to comment
Ashley
Just a reminder that if you are entering treatment for the first time or wish to go back for more therapy then this map of IAPT services may be helpful in locating your local service. Link to comment
