18 week waiting time - anyone tried to make them enforce it?!

Recommended Posts

There's an 18 week maximum waiting time for non-urgent consultant-led services (?!!!!!!!!!).

It hadn't occured to me to "complain" about the fact that I've been on ADRU's waiting list for more than 8 months - I was just being British I guess and expecting that it was normal to have to wait...  And, with Paul Salkovskis saying that his tiny service is flooded with applications, I thought waiting and waiting and waiting more was the only thing to do...   But what about this 18 week maximum thing - does anyone know what the NHS does if you try to hold them to account for this?

Sorry I was wondering whether to put it in this section, but there didn't seem to be many current posts over here so that's why I put it over there.  From what I can tell it does include specialist services and it is a legal right, at least to be able to ask CCG or provider to consider an alternative if 18 weeks have passed.  Which wouldn't help if there isn't actually an alternative or if the alternative is equally as oversubscribed.  But providers are encouraged to send "RTT" - Referral to Treatment" reports every month, which identify when they have insufficient capacity to meet demand.  This is clearly the case with providers of specialist OCD treatment?

Also, have you ever heard anything about the service in Welwyn Garden City run by Professor Naomi Fineberg?  I've been waiting 3 months just for a call back on the type of service they offer! They used to have a page on the Trust website which was being updated in early March but does not seem to have materialised.

Any luck with the Adobe mirror thing for Paul's webinar?
