CBT triggering obsessions?

Recommended Posts

I've been on the waiting list for CBT for a while and over the past month or so I've been a lot better mentally and haven't been obsessing as much as normal. I had my first session on Friday which was more of an assessment session and obviously I was telling the therapist all about my various obsessions and since then I have started obsessing again about things I haven't thought about in months. I'm assuming that this is because I've been talking about them, is this normal when you start therapy?

Anything can be a trigger. Therapy ... why not? And, though some might disagree ... if you imagine OCD to be some 'sentient' bully, anything that makes it feel as though it may be under attack e.g therapy, might put it into assault mode.

Poor old beleaguered OCD.
